What is the cost of Registration?
Registration costs are dependent on the program you choose for your child. Flag football (5-6) is $130. Tackle Football (7-8u/9-10u/11-12u) is $145. Cheerleading (ages 5-12) is $180. Drill Team (ages 10-14) is $180.
Are there any additional costs?
Yes, additional equipment will need to be purchased for the most programs. Flag participants will need to purchase cleats and a mouth guard. Tackle participants will need to purchase a helmet, shoulder pads, cleats, mouth guard, and a padded girdle. 7 slot pads can be substituted for the girdle. Cheerleaders will need to purchase white cheer shoes. Drill team dancers will need to purchase white drill boots from the Dazzlers uniform vendor.
Additional team costs may be incurred for instances such as game day snacks, homecoming festivities, end of season festivities, etc.
There will also be a small admission fee to the end of season championship games as well as CYFL bowl games. All other games have no admission fee.
How old does my child have to be to participate in CYFL?
All programs go by the age limitation cutoff date of August 1st on the registration year. For flag football your child must be 5-6 years of age as of August 1st. For tackle football your child must be 7-12 years of age as of August 1st. For cheerleading, your child must be between 5-12 years of age as of August 1st and for Drill team your child must be 10-14 years of age.
Can my child participate with a certain friend or coach?
You may make requests during the time of registration. We will work diligently to accommodate requests. However, we cannot guarantee your child will be placed with the friend, coach, or team you request.
What is included in the registration fees?
Uniforms are included in the registration costs for football which includes the game day jersey and pants. Cheer uniforms (shell and skirt), bloomers, socks, bow, poms, and cheer bag are included in cheer registration costs. Drill team uniforms, headbands, and leggings are included in the Dazzlers registration costs.
What form of payment is accepted for registration fees?
Visa, Mastercard, checking accounts, and debit cards are accepted during online registration. At registration events cash, money orders, or checks will be accepted as well as Visa and Mastercard.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! Payment plans are offered when you register online. Upon registration you have the option to select payment plans. You will need to put 50% down and the remaining balance will be split into two auto-draft payments. The payments will draft June 15th and July 15th.
Does CYFL offer discounts?
Yes! CYFL runs an annual early bird discount in February and March. This is the best and typically only discount for the season therefore, we highly encourage everyone to take advantage. After early bird registration, a sibling discount may apply for additional participants.
What if my child decides to not play after we register? Does CYFL have a refund policy?
Yes, a refund may be able to be supplied in certain situations. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds if you have opted for the payment plan option. Full refunds for registrants paid in full, if requested prior to June 15th. After June 15th we are not able to supply refunds due to uniforms being sent to production and the CYFL uniform vendor’s no refund policy.
When does registration ends?
Registration will have a soft closing in July. However, late participants may still register and be placed on a waiting list. Once teams are solidified, wait-listed and late participants will be placed in a hat draw for teams with vacancies in their roster.
Draft and Team Assignment
How does my child get placed on a team?
CYFL will host a draft for football players closed to the Board of Directors and coaches after registration ends. Coaches will take turns drafting players until there are no participants left or teams have reached their maximum capacity. Cheerleaders will be assigned post draft dependent on sibling draft standings, sibling ages, age division of participant, and team vacancies. There is only one CYFL Drill team so all registered Dazzlers will dance together in representation of the entire league.
When will I know what team my child is assigned to?
Coaches (all programs) will receive a roster and contact information early July and should contact their participants by mid-July.
What is a protected player?
Coaches are allowed a set limitation of protected players under specified guidelines. If your child is selected as a protected player under the approved guidelines then your child is guaranteed a slot on the selecting coach’s team roster.
What are the guidelines for protecting a player?
A coach cannot protect a player that is remaining in the same division as the prior season and was assigned to another team. A coach cannot protect a player that has already been protected. A coach cannot protect a player if he has already reached maximum capacity on his protection list.
Can cheer coaches protect cheerleaders?
Yes, a cheer coach can put in a request for up to 5 specific cheerleaders to be assigned to their team. The cheer director will work diligently to accommodate the coach’s request.
My child and I do not want my child to return to their prior team? How do I put in that request?
Upon registration, please indicate that your child does not want to return to the specified team. Your child will then be placed in the draft pool and assigned another team during draft. For cheerleaders, please specify upon registration that you wish to not return to said coach.
Can I pick which team my child is assigned to?
Unfortunately, you cannot choose which team your child is placed on. To maintain fair team assignments, unprotected participants must be drafted.
What is a combine?
The CYFL combine is held twice during the month of May and possibly early June. Participants will need to attend one of the combines to get fitted for their uniforms, verify registration is complete, and perform a set of skills evaluation drills.
Do cheerleaders and drill team dancers need to attend combine?
Yes. Cheerleaders and Drill team participants will need to attend one combine for their uniform fittings. Specified times for fittings will be sent out via email, posted on social media, and on the CYFL website.
Practices and Games
When are practices held and where?
Practices are held at the Josey Ranch Athletic Complex. Each team is assigned a section to a field for practices for the season. Practices are limited to a maximum of three days per week; Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Specific team practices times and days within the bracket of limitations is the head coaches discretion.
When and where are games held?
Games are held at the Josey Ranch Athletic Complex and Toyota Railroad Park in Lewisville. Regular season games are on Saturdays. Play-offs will have some games scheduled during normal practice times and weekdays during the last two weeks of the season. Championship games will be held at a to be determined location.
How long does the season run? How many games per season?
The season begins with our Annual Tank Bowl; typically the weekend before Labor Day weekend and will run through championship games mid-November. There will be 8 games per team plus play-off games per season.
